We came out of hibernation for Vol. 15 at our home base at Rullo's Bar in Brooklyn, where we were dazzled by our guests Mary Nittolo, Patrick Smith, and Shayna Strype, and by their film picks -- Pictures at an Exhibition, Love & Theft, and I Inside The Old I Dying, respectively. Plus, one of our guests was *particularly* animated this time!

We hosted our 14th edition in Manhattan as part of L'Alliance New York's Animation First Festival, with international guests, Marina Rosset, Boris Labbé, and Georges Schwizgebel. Together with our curious and insightful audience, we watched The Man with the Beautiful Eyes, Datum Point, and Aria. Since Georges was unable to join us in person, we were joined on stage by community members, Anne Beal, Jeremiah Dickey, and Pilar Newton-Katz, who brought wisdom and heart to our discussion of Aria!

We closed out 2024 with Animation Speak/Easy Vol. 13, an evening of dynamic films and vibrant discussion with our guests Godfrey Hibbert, Adina Sales, and Simona Prives, who shared Are you more likely to explode or freeze in space?, t.o.m., and Roost, respectively.

We reveled in each other's company at Animation Speak/Easy Vol. 12, and got lost in thought-provoking conversations about everything from indie animation to AI with guests Shane Fu, Bill Plympton, and Anne Beal, who shared On Your Mark, Bambi Meets Godzilla, and Words Words Words, respectively.

We awoke from our summer slumber to once again exchange ideas and inspiration at Animation Speak/Easy Vol. 11, this time with guests Coleen Baik, Poyen Wang, and Debra Solomon, who shared The Shirley Temple, Please Say Something, and The Big Snit, respectively.

We celebrated our 10th Animation Speak/Easy with an enthusiastic audience who helped us welcome our guests: Jeremiah Dickey prompted a friendly debate with Balance, Eun-Ha Paek made our inner animators squeal with Yoko is Naive, and Ruth Lingford wowed the crowd with an unofficial NYC premiere of [S].

We returned to Brooklyn for Vol. 9, where we welcomed Luz Batista, Roman Muradov, and Signe Baumane to share their short animation picks: Bubu & Bubulina, New Tribe, and Carnival of Animals, respectively.

We hosted our 8th edition as part of FIAF's Animation First Festival. Our lineup included Montreal-based filmmakers Janet Perlman and Joël Vaudreuil, and local animator and designer Maya Edelman, who shared Mt. Head, The Tourists, and Eager, respectively.

Our 7th edition featured filmmaker Carrie Hawks, who opened the evening with the short film Agua Viva. In a Speak/Easy first, we welcomed the film's director and NYC native, Alexa Lim Haas to join Carrie on stage. Biljana Labovic shook things up with Lupo the Butcher, and Stefano Imbert delighted our audience with Pulcinella.

We celebrated one year of Animation Speak/Easy with a delightful lineup: Amanda Bonaiuto introduced us to the mesmerizing short Black Long Skirt, Dez Stavracos sparked conversation with Childline: First Step, and Leslie Carrara-Rudolph and special guest Lolly Lardpop wowed our senses with Face Like a Frog.

In our 5th edition, Lynn Kim inspired discussion with Reddish Brown and Bluish Green, MOTOMICHI subverted our expectations with Good Song, and Caitlin Craggs helped us reclaim our childhood wonder with Windy Day.
